When it rains, it pours… Cody Butler is finding too much truth in the old adage. Cody’s herd is struck by symptoms of Hoof and Mouth disease and the bank is demanding payment in its entirety on his $200,000 banknote. Cody is determined to find a way to keep the family ranch, even after a wealthy businessman, Glenn Hubbard, offers him a little over three million dollars. What Cody didn’t plan on was Glenn Hubbard’s sexy Boston attorney delivering the offers. Cody has no intention on falling for the woman who works closely with Glenn, but can he ignore her heart?

Shaye Frazier may not agree with Glenn’s business practices, but she does need the money. Quickly, her attraction to Cody skyrockets. Despite her vow to never fall in love again, her mind and body are opposing forces. Shaye is hiding a big secret from Cody; can he forgive her when the truth is revealed?

Following her smash debut, Judie Aitken delivers another unforgettable romance. Written with fluid narrative, colorful characters, relationships that build slowly and steadily to the heated climax (pardon the pun), and lively dialogue with a dash of humor in just the right places, A PLACE CALLED HOME is another surefire winner!

Cody is the quintessential cowboy. Tough and rugged, he tries not to let his emotions get the best of him, but he is put in some extremely tough situations. His is a tough life, not only does he have a ranch for which he is fighting tooth and nail to keep, he also has to raise a thirteen-year-old sister who is turning from a girl into a woman. With the help of a meddling "nanny", Roscoe, Cody does an outstanding job of keeping things together. Ms. Aitken turns the character from existing on paper to a living man with incredible flair.

I would never want to be in Shaye’s place, literally stuck between a rock and a hard place. She has to do her job, but also despairs at the thought of hurting a man she is coming to love. Her interactions with Deputy Julie, Cody’s friend, add refreshing humor and a touch of naughtiness that makes the book stand out.

With such a promising future ahead of her, I can say that Judie Aitken is one author who is going to be top of my "automatic purchase" list. If you have discovered her books, don’t miss A PLACE CALLED HOME. If you have not read her previous book (A LOVE BEYOND TIME), you will want to run to the store and buy them both. They are not to be missed.
