CRASH INTO ME
Jill Sorenson's first single title, CRASH INTO ME, involves an FBI investigation revolving around former famous surfer, Ben Fortune. When a rash of murders strikes the La Jolla community, FBI agent Sonny Vasquez is sent to investigate the possibility of Ben Fortune's involvement in the deaths. Sonny, known for her tough demeanor and successful investigative skills, fits right into the community in which she grew up. When Sonny unexpectedly rescues Ben's teenaged daughter from drowning, Sonny is suddenly much closer to the investigation than she expects. Getting to know Ben and daughter Carly, Sonny starts to regret her involvement in the investigation because she realizes that the trusting relationship that is starting to develop is going to eventually be destroyed. The attraction between Sonny and Ben is instantaneous, and the tension between the pair causes as much friction as the terrible events of Ben's past.
A secondary relationship develops quickly between teens Carly and James, and this relationship is vital to the overall plot of the novel. Danger is much closer than anyone realizes, and Sonny will be stunned by the reckless actions of a brutal killer. CRASH INTO ME is fast-paced, entertaining, and gripping. Both Sonny and Ben are haunted by their pasts, creating an interesting push-pull relationship that keeps the reader on her toes. Carly's growing relationship with James adds another level of tension that intrigues, and when James is unexpectedly connected to Sonny, the reader will be shocked by the relationship. CRASH INTO ME has so many unexpected events and twists that readers will be hooked all the way to the final page. Jill Sorenson is an author to watch! Reviewed by Angela Etheridge
