Emily Drake is a therapist with a slightly … different sort of practice. She works with the Other - vampires, shifters, all sorts of paranormal creatures that go bump in the night. She has a special talent that helps her with these others. She can sense what they are and what they feel. It is this talent that makes her valuable in a recent case involving a serial killer.

The lead cop knows what she is and who she treats, he knows of her special talents, as well. He partners her up with Detective Colin Gyth in an effort to solve these crimes. Colin soon learns just what Emily can do and he is very worried. Not only could she reveal exactly what he is to those around him, she could ruin his life. He found out just how people react to him the last time he let his secret out, it's not going to happen again.
When he gets close to Emily, however, she brings out the beast in him. His alpha male protectiveness kicks in and it is all he can do not to show her how big and bad he is. When the Night Butcher seeks out Emily, he has no choice. He will protect he, she is his, and he can only hope that she can handle the truth.

I loved this story! True, I am a fan of shifters, but this was a combination of big, scary shifters and a lighter look at paranormal. As a reader, I was in turn snickering over the antics of Emily's patients, while at the same time wishing that Colin could be mine! Cynthia Eden writes a fantastic tale with plenty of steam and excitement. The suspense isn't bad, either! It's all around hot and steamy fun! Gotta love a book with it all!
