Reformed professional jewel thief, Patrick O'Connor, has been brought back to Minnesota to help the FBI close in on a talented counterfeiter who has been passing bills at his sister's casino and restaurant.  Several years ago, Patrick turned himself in to Special Agent Elizabeth Brynn and fulfilled his duty to them by doing everything they asked in order to save his sister, Mara from jail.  He's had it hot for Liz ever since.  Working within close proximity to Special Agent Liz Brynn again, the one thing he's always wanted but couldn't have, might make this a harder task than he realized.

Elizabeth Brynn has worked hard to get where she is with the FBI and is proud of her badge.  She doesn't need Patrick O'Connor to help get this guy, but it's not up to her.  They will bait the counterfeitor by trying to get an "expert" to help Patrick with his next book.  When Liz and Patrick have to go out on the town to gain exposure, their attraction turns to passion.  Add in the fact that Patrick's old mentor, Villanueva, who has a sick penchant for knives and slicing people, has snuck back to town for revenge.  His next target is not only Patrick for betraying him, but anyone that Patrick is close to. As the tight circle draws inward, Patrick and Liz must face old demons as they come to terms with their feelings and their pasts if they are to have any sort of future together.

Filled with sensuous overtones and heated under currents, this engaging romp features a sinfully sexy bad boy hero with an almost too tightly wound up good girl heroine.  Each have their own quirks and issues that they try to deal with while trying to catch the criminals.  The secondary plot of the former mentor coming for revenge is tied in neatly to the primary storyline.  Ms. Sey neatly winds both threads together while not detracting from the romance.  Not exactly a mystery or thriller, this is a romance that has a bit of both.
