Romantic Suspense
I'm going to be very frank with readers about SHATTERED. If you have not read any of the books in the Bitter Creek Series, do not start with this book! Go to Ms Johnston's website, get a list of the books and proceed to read them in order. It is imperative that you know and understand the background of the ccharacters involved in the previous stories so that you can understand the relationships as they apply in SHATTERED.
The previous book in this series is A STRANGER'S GAME and at the end of it I yelled to all that would listen that we readers were robbed! I was upset and devastated that the story had a "semi" ending. I went so far as to compose a blistering email to the author complaining that she was playing a game with us, giving us a half-baked story with no real resolution. In reality she was setting us up for something big! Thank goodness I never sent the email because SHATTERED picks up exactly where A STRANGER'S GAME left off. What is revealed is written with the expertise we have come to look forward to from Ms Johnston and clears up a lot! Kate Greyhawk Pendleton has some serious secrets, as does Jack McKinley and the notorious Wyatt Shaw. What you thought would happen as a result of A STRANGER'S GAME, and any theories you came up with, are blown completely out of the water.
The surprises start in chapter one and continue to escalate. The romance is unbelievable but who is involved with whom only enhances the story. The suspense is edge of the seat and the results are electrifying! You want to read SHATTERED, you really do, but you at least need to know background information before you pick it up. All right! If you want to cheat, at least read A STRANGER'S GAME and start from there, but there will be so many "who, what, where and how" questions you'll want to know from the beginning.
Notice that I have not provided a blow-by-blow synopsis of the book, you don't need one if you are a Bitter Creek fan. It's the book we've been waiting for and it does not disappoint! Ms Johnston had to be sitting back laughing at all of us that were showing our impatience, but in the end we got the best story ever!
