Realtor Melanie Middleton may be able to see and speak with ghosts, but that hasn’t stopped her renovations on her inherited historic house. What has stopped her involvement with her renovations is the sudden appearance of her mother, and her mother’s insistence that Melanie help her to buy back their family home. Melanie’s anger at her mother’s desertion almost thirty years earlier is no match for her mother’s determination, and the machinisms of author Jack Trenholm. So now, Melanie is working on two historic houses, and dealing with the spiritual inhabitants. That could be a lot for one girl, but Melanie’s mother shares her medium ability. If only her mother would also share her secrets. Something drove Melanie’s mother away all those years ago, and that same evil entity still resides in the family home. And with the discovery of an ancient boat off the coast, the malevolent spirit appears to be gaining strength and it has focused all its hatred on Melanie. Together with her mother and Jack, Melanie must uncover buried family secrets, and put the spirit to rest once and for all. This is a fantastic story! I absolutely loved the writing, the quirky and independent character of Melanie, and the fabulous descriptions of the old houses. The spirits were even given substance! This is a wonderful author, and definitely now one of my favourites. I am eager to read the other works. Reviewed by Rista Tompkins Rating: 4 1/2
