While in college, Hillary is the victim of a vicious attack and rape. The results of this sort of event are always traumatic, but she had the bonus of being turned into a werewolf. Having no idea what to do except escape and survive, she takes off on her own. For years, she survives without incident in a sleepy little town. There, she owns a cabinetry shop and hopes to eventually focus on her passion of woodworking full-time. “Larry's Woodworking” has made quite the name for itself. She even has a helper/friend for the everyday jobs. When Stephen, said coworker, takes on a job for a custom table fir for a warrior, she had no idea the turn her quiet life was about to take.

The first time she gets a whiff of Aaron, she knows he is a werewolf. Due to the horror of her own turning, she does not at first know what to make of him. She has equated her kind with danger until now. It takes some time, but Aaron convinces her that she is safe with him. He shows her the gentle side of their kind. When he wants to introduce her to his brother and alpha, Zach, neither has any idea of the dynamic chemistry that will spark. Zach and Hillary have an instant bond. True to her careful and self-preserving nature, Hillary (or Larry as she is often called in the book) is not at first willing to give in to the draw. It takes little time for her to realize that there are just some things that cannot be denied. She finally lets go of her inhibitions and embraces all that Zach has to offer. Together, they face tough decisions, new emotions, and past trauma.

Hillary will have to decide if she can stand up and be the powerful werewolf that she was meant to be and if she can handle the reality of dishing justice to the ones her forever changed her life. If she can do all that, then she and Zach just may have a chance at one perfect true love. The plotline to this story is awesome. I love it and think that it was well executed – in pace and intensity. However, I feel that there could be a little more polish on the writing. There was just something off to me. I don't mean that bad, because the book was very enjoyable. If the writing had been just a touch less too good to be true and little more “real”, this would have been a damned near perfect read. It has all the elements that this paranormal loving reader needs – passion, sexy wolves, and hot, hot chemistry. K.B. Alan has all the potential of becoming a top-notch storyteller!
