WHACK ‘N’ ROLL A Bunco Babes Mystery Gail Oust Obsidian Mystery ISBN:978-0-451-22769-0 August 2009 Mystery
The Bunco Babes are not your average retirees. When they are not throwing the dice, they like to throw themselves into juicy mysteries, but murder itself is a scary business and in this game, luck can run out for good. The sixties set at Serenity Cove Estates is South Carolina certainly knows how to keep active. When they are not playing bunco or golf, they are gossiping. So it is no surprise that when Kate Mc Call and her fellow Bunco Babes come across a dismembered arm during a golf game, the rumours, and the excitement is sure to follow. The residents are abuzz with the latest discovery and it is all the Bunco Babes can talk about during their get together. So they decide to roll out their own investigation and see if they can toss a killer out their own way.
WHACK ‘N’ ROLL is a slow paced mystery. It has all of the components of being a good story line, but with stereotypical senior citizens, it tends to wander and meander. If you are looking for a fun book that you can easily put down and pick up multiple times, this is for you. Otherwise, you might do better to find something with a little more life.
