Ultimate Romance - Historical

Historical and erotica, this title got my attention fairly quickly.  BAD KITTY refers to the heroine, whose name is Katrina Hartford.  As a woman who is independent in her thinking, she writes under the assumed pen name of Alistair Allenby and sends in her opinions to a local "rag" publication.  She's all about women's rights, so when she hears of Bram Wiltshire, a man who forces his maids to do things and demands their silence, she is infuriated.  But, she is also intrigued after seeing him at a local party, having his way with a lady of the ton.  So Katrina sets out to become his maid so she can expose his secrets in her writing and save the women of England from such a vile beast.

However, upon arriving at his estate dressed as a maid behind glasses, she can't believe he immediately sets out to showing her who is "master" and who is servant by subjecting her to his idea of punishment.  Bram knows immediately that she is no servant, having seen her at the party and was instantly attracted to her.  But why was she here, a virgin lady of the ton, willingly being his servant?  He should send her away, but instead keeps her in his private suite for his daily pleasure.  He tells himself he has to determine why she is there, but even he knows that he is lying to himself because there is something between them that he can't understand.  So he sets about to keep her for himself, but will her secret ruse destroy their bond?

BAD KITTY is a very quick read, perfect for someone who wants a little get-a-way but doesn't have a lot of time to spend.  The story flows nicely and even though sometimes I got put off with all the spanking (to each their own), it was very steamy and had strong characters.  Ms. Glass does a great job of giving Bram some background as to why he is the way he is, even though I understood Katrina less for someone who was supposed to be this strong, independent woman - she caved in just a little too quickly for me for her to be believable.  I felt that BAD KITTY would have made an even better longer story with the build up drawn out a little more, and more time given to develop the character's love.  Nevertheless, this short novella was just long enough to keep me entertained for a few hours.
