Alexandrine Marit is a witch of questionable power. Abandoned by her biological father at age 3 due to her so-called lack of power, she was adopted by a family along with another abandoned child named Harsh. Harsh disappeared when she was a young teen and Alexandrine ran away from home not long after. Living on the streets, she learned a lot, some of it good and some not so good. Once she grew up, she went in search of her real father, only to find he was not exactly good father material. He is a mage by the name of Rasmus Kessler and evil would be a nice thing to call him. When her long lost brother just shows up on her doorstep one day, she is elated as well as angry. She had thought him dead all these years, and here he is just showing up and ordering her around with little or no explanations.

Alexandrine is strapped with Xia, a fiend in the form of the most gorgeous male she has ever had the pleasure to lay eyes upon. His kind have a history of enslavement to mages, so to put it mildly, he has little use for witches. As a matter of fact, he would love to kill the little witch, but he has promised Alexandrine’s brother that he will keep her safe. It doesn’t help that he wants her almost as much as he wants to kill her. As he gets to know her, he starts to see that maybe she isn’t like her father, the mage who had enslaved him in the past. But old grudges die hard and the passion may not outweigh the hate. When Xia is in eminent danger, Alexandrine puts it all on the line in order to save a man that she should hate.

MY FORBIDDEN DESIRE is the sequel to MY WICKED ENEMY, both of which are fabulous reads! I would recommend reading MY WICKED ENEMY first so that you can understand the characters and their past. Ms. Jewel has another winner with this latest release and I can only hope that there is more to come!
