Historical Romance

Mariah, the indulged daughter of an Earl, is neither spoiled nor vain.  She finds the men of Britian boring and dull, and simply viewing her as a potential wife for the assets and connections that she would bring to the marriage.  And Mariah's parents, much in love themselves, hope their daughter will marry for love, and are not inclined to force their daughter into a hasty union despite her advancing age.  Glad for her parents respect, Mariah wishes desperately for adventure and excitment, but never dreams that her life is soon to become drastically exciting.

Harry, a spy for the British government, may not be titled, but he is talented at his job.  And currently, his job entails watching and protecting the father of the lovely Lady Mariah.  Immediately besotted with the lovely lady, Harry has a chance to meet her on the dark terrace.  But showing his face is not possible, as he is in disguise as well as far beneath the social ranking of the Earl's daughter.  Still, unable to forget this charming and unspoiled woman, he sneaks into her bedchamber to begin their relationship.

While Harry is always a gentleman, Mariah quickly finds herself enthralled with her romantic hero, even though she has never seen his face or learned his full name.  More and more determined to win Harry for her husband, Mariah seeks to find out all she can about the mysterious Harry.  And Harry will do all in his power to keep Lady Mariah safe from the nepharious plots, relating to his profession.

But will they ever be able to be together, with such differences in social rank between them?

This was a terrific novel.  Mariah was a modern and independent thinker, who was unable to ignore true passion and intrigue.  Her character was delightful.  Harry was every bit the romantic and mysterious suitor, noble in character if not by birth, and one could only cheer for his ultimate success in winning the lovely Mariah.  A truly enjoyable story, the foreplay between the characters was thrilling and sexy.  A wonderful read.
